Dear Church Family, With great gratitude and deep pleasure, I want to share with you the news that a majority of our PC(USA) Presbyteries, as of July 11, 2011,has voted to delete the categorical exclusions in our constitution! The passage of Amendment 10-A --which replaces a contested sexual ethic in the Presbyterian Church's ordination standards and reaffirms the Lordship of Jesus Christ in all aspects of life--is a change for which we and many others have worked for, for years. We rejoice that gay and lesbian Presbyterians, gifted and called by God, are now able to serve more openly in ordained office. We believe that the church will be strengthened by this change. We celebrate especially with Lisa Larges, Candidate for Ministry with the way now opened for Ordination. And we acknowledge the formidable leadership of More Light Presbyterians and Covenant Network of Presbyterians. How proud I am that NVM has been associated and supportive of both organizations from the very beginning. It is a good day! May we together live in and reflect the amazing good news of Easter. Blessings, Keenan(The Rev. Keenan Kelsey)
